The Stuff of Legends [Jonathon/Gin]

Doing more research on the ancient manuscripts always made it odd that she would focus more on it rather than her own studies though there was something quite interesting with another legend involving Grimhilde infusing with magic and awakening its form as the legendary Brunhilde which would be quite useful if Shadows were involved. She didn’t know what kind of process was needed to awaken its power, but its potency might be useful for the battles that were to come anyway. As she walked in the shopping district with one of the books that had the legends of the kingdom in hand, she could feel the stares coming from people who was a bit curious about her foreigner status. Ignoring the states that she had been given, she would flip through the pages of the book in order to find answers for her research. It actually made her a but curious about what kind of other legends that her country has foretold from her ancestors though the country’s history had a very dark past regardless and that she’d rather not have the mistakes from the past repeat in the present. He'd done it, he'd finally had a breakthrough. On his most recent trek to the inverse he found something, a newspaper box, still mostly in tact. At the bottom, yellowing and faded, was a news paper, from that other place. It still wasn't all that much but it was a start, a real actual start. There were words and stories from that other world about that other world and they were legible and not destroyed, not yet. He was about to make it to the shopping district when a shock came over him. "No...No, not now. Not like this..." He said, clutching his head, feeling the shadow start to push. Jonathon was still worn out from the inverse, he didn't have time to recover at all. "No, no....nonononono...Yes." The shadow had control, standing up and brushing some of the inverse dust from himself. "Now what is this dusty thing? Oh my, this is useless at this point, it's years old. No one would need this." The shadow then tore the news paper apart, some of it crumbled to dust in his hands. "Oh, you were going to show that off to your little girlfriend? How sweet. I think I should meet her." The shadow then continued on, the real Jonathon fighting to get control back but nothing he did worked. He couldn't get a hold of his own mind right now. "Hello Isolde, fancy running into you here." The shadow said, finding the girl.

A familiar guy seemed to say hello to her though there was something entirely different that she couldn't really sense. "Ah hello, love. I am happy to see you again.” She would have expected that he had some newspaper that had a great lead though she didn’t see anything in his hands. Perhaps he probably came up empty-handed during his search for the answer needed for a lead on what the Inverse World truly had. If he didn’t have some good lead about what happened, she had something that might spark his interest though she wasn’t sure if some book would lead them to what clues they were looking for. At this rate, the book about the country’s legends might prove to be useful when finding out what kind of things the ancient citizens would have described. “My home’s library had a book that details my country’s legends as I am certain the black creatures must be described in the folklore as such.” She would hand the book to him for the young man to read through it. The book itself was quite old though it holds many wonderful legends that she and her siblings really love to read about. "It's good to see you as well." The shadow said, smiling at her. If Isolde paid close enough attention she would notice that Joanthon's eyes were now a wicked golden color. "I'm sorry I don't have anything to offer. Unfortunately my last trip was...uneventful. I didn't manage to find anything helpful, sorry." The shadow said, doing it's best to sound like the real Jonathon. "If you managed to find something in your library, why don't we go back and check it out. Perhaps there's more books like this." He said, flipping through the book, resisting the urge to laugh. Humans really didn't understand how the Inverse or shadows worked. Most of this book was old wives tales, using the shadows in place of the usual human monsters to scare children into being good. He slammed the book shut and looked back at her. "Well, shall we go investigate your family's library some more?"

Nonetheless, Jonathon wanted to look for more clues at her home’s library which would be a good idea. "Yes, we shall go to my hone’s library if there should be books that have the clues we are looking for.” This book that she had picked out would have been something she could work with though she would want to know what kind of opinion he had on the book that she showed him. "What did you think of the book I had shown to you? I’d thought it would be an opportunity for me to research further on the matter.” Come to think of it, his eyes were not normal either, but perhaps what matters was that she should focus on researching more about the other world. This other world possibly had some things that she might not have known sooner if she had to neglect studying for a while. Neglecting her studies from school and on top of that, her training with her elder brother probably wouldn't do any good if she ignored the important parts of her education. Things were going exactly according to plan for the shadow. The walk back to Isolde's home was a quiet one. They made their way into the library and the shadow made a point to lock the door behind them and moved a chair in front of the door while she wasn't paying attention. "I must say, this is quite the library you have here. It's...beautiful. Just like you." The shadow placed a hand on her shoulder and smiled. He then pulled her close and kissed her, Jonathon was screaming in his mind. The shadow reached down to Jonathon's side, grabbing the knife that he took to the Inverse with him, holding it up about to plunge it into her back when he stopped suddenly. He broke away and Jonathon had control again. "Isolde run!" He screamed before he flinched again and almost fell to the ground. Then the shadow began to laugh as it stood back up. "Shame. I was enjoying that. Well, I guess my fun is over. You seem like a nice girl and he really loves you. That's why I have to kill you."

As she heard the door to the library click which indicated that it was locked from the outside and that he probably had some measure to keep the secrets out, she would be caught off guard as he kissed her. What followed next was completely off from what Jonathon wouldn't do to her and that the real Jonathon came back to his senses just in time to pull the knife away. Now he was telling her to run though his control was short-lived as the Shadow made it a point to laugh and gloat about killing her. "As the third heir in the line of succession, I cannot die here as I must live for the sake of my subjects.” Her heart was pounding in absolute fright as she quickly had to subdue her attacker before he made another move for the kill. She would take what she learned from her lessons as she swept her foot forward to make him lose his balance before using her hands to pin both of his arms to the ground. She only wished that either her brother or her butler would help her with subduing a guy that attempted to murder her. The shadow grinned as Isolde took him off guard and pinned him. "Ooooh, looks like somebody likes it rough. How many times have you done this to him." The shadow said, looking her dead in the eye. "If you want rough, that's what I'll give you." The shadow then forced his arms up, throwing the shorter girl off. Jonathon himself might not have been able to do that, but the shadow had strength of it's own, it was stronger than a human would be, even if it was stuck in this body. "I'm sorry Princess, but your pleading falls on deaf ears." The shadow picked up Jonathon's knife and returned to her. "Congratulations, the last thing you'll see in this life is the man who loves you coping with being your killer." The shadow then plunged the knife into Isolde's side and chose to release control. Jonathon stared in horror at the knife in Isolde's side, his hands shaking as he let go of the hilt. "Isolde...please, say something. Isolde? Isolde! Someone help!" He said, running and throwing the chair away from the door and opening it. "Please! Anybody! She needs help!"

Unfortunately, not even trying to subdue a man twice her size was enough as he threw her off and returned with the dreaded knife in his hand. She would attempt to get away, but he would say that the last thing she would notice is that the man she loved would end up being her killer as he plunged the knife at her side. Jonathon’s horrified cries fell to deaf ears as she collapsed from the immense stabbing pain from her side. All she could see was the darkness and that she desperately needed medical attention right away as Jonathon’s plea for help captured the attention of her loyal butler who immediately opened the door just as he came upon the sight of her unconscious body. “What is the meaning of this?! I-I must call the paramedics immediately!” The silver-haired butler took out his cellphone and dialed 119 which it would take a few minutes before the paramedics arrived at the scene and took to her to the hospital. After the paramedics had taken her to the hospital, the butler would turn to his liege’s attacker and addressed him in an angry tone. “I simply must not let you harm Lady Isolde any further. Is it true that you have attacked her in such a way?” With the conclusion that he was in the same room, there was no way that this young man would have gotten away with attempting to murder his liege. tag: Jonathon McDowell ▪ words: 252 ▪ ooc: None.

"I...I didn't...It...no...that wasn't supposed to..." Jonathon had fallen to his knees, staring at his hands. One of them still had blood from Isolde's wound on it. "It...I couldn't...This wasn't..." He was muttering almost incoherently to himself. Then the shadow felt Jonathon had had enough, and took the body back. He lurched forward, putting the bloody hand to his face and the other one to the floor. "Woe is me. First I stab the woman I love and now I've got her blood on my face. Oh the irony." The shadow chuckled as it stood up, the right side of his face now had some blood down the side of it. "Do you value you're life butler? You can stand and try to stop me, or you can face a fate worse then your mistress. The choice is yours." The shadow said, taking a step toward the butler, grinning wickedly.

Jonathon continued to profess his innocence, but his control over himself waned as the Shadow gloated to the butler if he wanted to stop him or face death. “I must warn you that I may have to subdue you before this gets messy.” The silver-haired butler would reach into his vest and pull out a dagger though he had to be careful since Shadow Jonathon would most likely attack him as well. He would quickly move behind the young man as he held him at knifepoint though if the guy prepared to make his escape, he was well prepared for that. Perhaps the other members of the household wouldn't mind that Jonathon’s own Shadow was held at knifepoint since he really intended to make his escape. With his mistress wounded, the butler was going to miss seeing her at home and that he would know her parents would deeply be troubled by the news that she had been stabbed. Subduing someone that had the strength to topple over his mistress was never to be taken lightly. Then again, the training he would have gotten through made him a reliable retainer for his liege though there was this unexplained strength that could make him fail to subdue this young man. tag: Jonathon McDowell ▪ words: 252 ▪ ooc: None.

"Oh, how amusing, the butler thinks he stands a chance. I'd like to see you try to stop me." The shadow laughed, not even moving at the knife being pulled. The shadow was just controlling this body, any would it received would be Jonathon's to deal with. "If that's your best though, I suppose I could show you mine...PERSONA!" The shadow shouted. Then it was as if the whole house shook and a mighty roar was heard. Outside the house a long serpentine dragon began to circle the building before lowering and looking into the window, roaring again. "Now, I will give you two choices. Either you let me walk out of this home and vanish. Or, I have the creature outside level this mansion, and depending on how I'm feeling, I might have it move on to the rest of the city. The choice is yours butler." The shadow didn't care if people saw Seth, it'd cause chaos, give the shadows more to feed off of.

The Shadow have him two choices which the butler himself couldn't let the city get in danger because of his judgment, but the safest option would be to let him vanish. This was just like one of those sadistic choices where the villain would win either way if a choice like that was picked, but the butler himself couldn't let the city turn to chaos if that thing summoned a huge dragon to level the whole opulent household and cause citywide panic. “Hmph. Very well, I shall have to let you go for the time being since letting a monstrous dragon wreak havoc on the city is a very bad thought for the people living in this city.” As long as the people there were safe from the monstrous dragon that was summoned, he probably had to warn the other members of her family that a dragon had been summoned to take the household hostage. Come to think of it, he might need some news about his mistress’s condition though he could not visit until she would recover from whatever treatment for her wounds she had to undergo. "Smart choice butler. Now I need to make an exit that will get reported." The shadow said, snapping his fingers. Seth let out another war before slamming their tail into the side of the home, putting a hole in the wall. "I'm sorry about the wall, but I'm sure your employers can repair it." Shadow Jonathon gave a wave as he jumped out of the hole and landed on Seth. "Send the girl my love. I'll be seeing her soon enough." The shadow said, letting out a laugh as Seth began to fly off. Now the shadow had everything it needed. It had Jonathon's body, it had turned Isolde against him, and now the city would see shadows. However, before he took Jonathon's body on detour into the inverse world. "Take us to the city Seth, it's time to change the world." He flew the dragon over the city, letting a jet of flame erupt into the sky. He then flew down to the ground, letting Seth dissipate before landing. "Finally time to get out of this terrible world. Time to go home." He said as he stepped through a rift, back into the Inverse.

Back at the hospital, the doctors had thankfully stitched up the bleeding and that she would have to stay at the hospital until she could recover from her wounds. After the doctors would successfully close up the wound, they took her to the recovery room where visitation would be allowed for the time being. Given that her family was extremely worried for her, they of course opted to give her a visit and that her father would talk with her for a while. It seemed like he was worried that the attacker could once again try to kill her though the police would probably be on the lookout for this man. Given that Jonathon’s Shadow could be planning his next move, she might have to be extra careful just in case something like this would happen again. “Father, I’m so sorry…” She would apologize as she looked down on her hands and wondered what kind of plans would the Shadow be planning next, but she didn’t have any time to think about it. She remembered that she had Gin’s number and that she dialed the number which hopefully he would come make her feel better about the whole ordeal. tag: Gin Seimei ▪ words: 252 ▪ ooc: None.
