Persona Users: Persona Users have successfully overcome their darker, more negative feelings in order to create a "Persona"--a trained manifestation of their negative inner feelings. Persona are primarily used to fight shadows, and as such, many Persona Users travel to the Inverse World in order to try and rescue the people who have fallen in, as well as prevent Shadows from crossing over into Earth.
Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapons: The Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapons (ASSW) were created by the people of the Inverse World to defeat the Shadows and hopefully save humankind. Unfortunately, they were overrun, and several of them were destroyed in the ensuing massacre. There are, however, several hundred untouched units that are still on "standby", as they were never put into action after being manufactured. A handful of the original units deployed also managed to survive, although they are scattered throughout the Inverse World and despite their efforts, are not proving to be much of a threat to the Shadows. Civilians: Civilians are the everyday people who walk the Earth and have yet to awaken their Persona. Most of them are completely oblivious as to what is going on with regards to the Shadows, although they do know that something particularly nasty is happening to their world.
