What is up people? Doing good? Good! Well we managed to actually get the site up and running, and I'm excited to get our first update up and running. Lemme give a quick run down of what will be talked about in further detail. The biggest thing being added is the Mastery System, which is basically a pseudo level up system. With the Mastery System, we are adding Character Archetypes and Persona Types. Archetypes are just how your character prefers to fight and what attribute they prefer. Persona Types are the way your persona is summoned and utilized in battle. Alright so enough with the Intro let's get into the Update.
Summoned: This is the standard persona type you see in the games as well as anime and movies. Your personas are separate constructs that act on your whim. They are the ones doing a bulk of the fighting, by casting all physical, magical, and support skills. Think of this as the Pokemon persona method ….personamon method. Any action taken by your persona counts as an action done by you. So, while there are two things only one of you are allowed to do an action at a time. So if the persona is using Agi by extension you are using Agi, because you are one in the same.
Empowered: This is the persona type for those who want their characters to do the fighting. Instead of the persona being a separate construct it lends its power to the user to fight. This allows the users themselves to cast all physical, magical, and support skills. Think of this as the Megaman Starforce/Power Ranger method…. Phoenix Ranger Featherman R.
Armor: These are your….well there’s no real way to describe this other than mech, or biodigivolved users. The user resides inside of their persona in a “cockpit” where they control it. It’s literally Gundam with personas, I really have no real way of explaining this. Ask Toshi if you have further questions.
Support/Navigator: These are your, well, support persona. They usually will not have many, if any, combat skills. But they make up for that with their plethora of heals, buffs, debuffs, status ailments, etc. These are your Fuukas and Rises. These persona are a mix of Summoned and Armor, as the user usually resides inside of their persona, while the persona acts as an armor surrounding and protecting the user. They are the only Users allowed to have Navigator skills and access the Navigator tree (Navigator Tree is open regardless of Archetype)
ArchetypesAlright! What’s an RPG based RP without some RPG based gameplay? Well I don’t know either, but we’re gonna throw some in anyway. From this day forward every persona user will be allowed to choose an archetype for their characters fighting style. Now this doesn't mean you will be forced to play as an archetype, or that people with archetypes will be better. It's just a way to give those who choose to play as a specific archetype a little boost. The downside to this is that each archetype will be closed off from a certain tree, but able to master more trees they are open to. While unspecified, or Jack Of All Trades, will be allowed into all trees, but unable to master as many trees. Each Archetype will have their own special Archetype tree with further specialization in each tree.
Without further Ado, here are the Archetypes:
Fighter: Fighters excel at combat—defeating their enemies, controlling the flow of battle, and surviving fierce attacks. While their specific weapons and methods grant them a wide variety of tactics, few can match fighters for sheer battle prowess. Fighters are your typical RPG Warrior class. They excel at physical attacks, while having decent defenses to survive a few blows. They are closed off from the Elemental, Recovery, Navigator, and Ailment trees.
Mage: Mages excel at casting a selection of favored spells frequently, making them powerful battle mages. As they become familiar with a specific and ever-widening set of spells, Mages often discover new and versatile ways of making use of magics other spellcasters might overlook. Mages are your typical RPG, well, Mage. They predominantly use Elemental magic, but can use Recovery magic, not as well as Clerics, but they get the job done. These guys trade defenses for devastating power. They are closed off from all Physical trees, as well as the Navigator tree.
Rogue: Rogues excel at moving unseen and catching foes unaware. They avoid head to head combat, and prefer stealthy approaches to battle. They can sneak by enemies to get into favorable positions, and take them out. Rogues are your typical Rogue class. They trade defense, and magic capabilities for speed, accuracy, and physical prowess. They are closed off from Elemental, Recovery, Navigator and Enhance trees.
Tank: Tanks can always be found in the middle of a fight, either soaking up damage for an ally, or disrupting the enemy. They excel at protecting their allies and starting fights. You’d need a lot of fire power to take out one of these guys. Tanks are your best friend if you’re a Mage or Rogue. Tanks sport High defense, decent offense, and very low mobility and speed. They are closed off from Ailment, Navigator, and Element trees.
Jack of all Trades: This is the “I’ll go down whatever tree I want” archetype. They are not closed off from any of the trees, except Navigator. This is basically your decent at a lot of things master of none. And to correctly portray this Jack of all Trades will not be allowed to master as many Trees as the Archetypes. Whereas a Mage can master all Elemental trees, or a Fighter can master all Physical trees, JOT’s can only master 2 Physical and Magical Trees, and either Ailment or Healing. Can you still gain points in the trees? Yes, but you can only get up to Rank 3 in a non-Master Tree.
Note that each Archetype Tree has a split allowing you further specialization for your character. You can only fill out one side of the split, so choose wisely. More Information about them will be revealed later.
The mastery system is a way of adding some balance to the game. We don't want people learning high level skills such as Ragnarok 2 weeks after they awaken. And, well a leveling system is over used and does not allow for much freedom. The mastery system works in a way that allows you to use these high level spells but punishes you for doing so. So if you have rank 1 in fire and you decide to use Ragnarok you will deplete all of your mana, if you even have enough to do so, and may even die. Now if you were rank 4 and used it, it would be the equivalent of using agi at rank 1.
High rank=better spells. But that's not all. Your rank also coincides with the amount of damage you do as well as your accuracy of your spells. So you get more out of using skills that are in your rank than using higher level skills. At certain ranks you will learn your respective Boost and Amp as well as Null and Resist skill to show that you are improving your skills and becoming a master in your craft. Raising your rank in an area also allows you to learn powerful skills that are not on the regular skill list.
The Mastery System will also have Trees for The Archetypes as well as the Navigator Persona Type.
How does it work? Simple each Rank has a certain amount of points that go up multiplicatively. You place the points wherever you want, depending on if your Archetype allows.
Rank 1: 1 point
Rank 2: 2 points
Rank 3: 4 points
Rank 4: 8 points
Rank 5: 16 points
Rank 6: 32 points
Rank 7: 64 points
When you create a character you automatically gain 1 point, congratulations you’ve mastered Rank 1. Points will be awarded based on a number of factors, mainly events and missions. But who knows I might be feeling generous and give a few out for no reason. Maybe, I don’t know. You can find the Trees, and their skills at the bottom of this post.
Again more information on this will be found in its respective thread, so be on the look out for that.
Well that wasn’t nearly as long as I thought it would be. Please leave any comments, questions, and concerns in the discussion thread titled “February Update Discussion.” Please update your character apps as soon as possible for your Persona Type and if you are going to gain an Archetype. That’s about it. Thanks for coming and have a wonderful day!
Persona Types
Everyone will be allowed to define their Persona Type in their character app now. This will allow each person some customization in the way they fight and use their Persona. Each Type is equal in strength. This is literally just to give everyone a choice in how they use their Persona. you can have any combination of Persona Types and Archetype.Summoned: This is the standard persona type you see in the games as well as anime and movies. Your personas are separate constructs that act on your whim. They are the ones doing a bulk of the fighting, by casting all physical, magical, and support skills. Mastery System
Ok Time for the main event of the day, The Mastery System. This is my own special creation so I’m pretty hyped to use it and fix it to make it all perfect like. February Event
Yup you read that correctly we are going to have an event. Well less of an event more of a fun game. Those of you who come from Persona Inverse will definitely remember this fun and exciting game. The Valentine’s Day Crack Meme. No not crack like the highly addictive drug, that’s for a future event. Basically you roll a die and get a number between 1 and 5. Depending on the Number your character can become a loveable Tsundere, Yandere, Moe, Sexy, or Melodramatic. Doesn’t that sound like FUN!!!! More information on this can be found in its respective thread that will be posted sometime during the week. So look forward to that. Advertising Event
WHOA! TWO EVENTS AT ONCE TIGGY YOU’RE SO COOL. Yeah I know. But yeah seeing as we’re actually staying afloat and we get a decent amount of visitors every day I think it’s time we start advertising, and what better way to incentivize advertising than an event. If you have artistic abilities go ahead and make your own PTLG banner and flaunt that mug on another site. Or you can use the one I made. Either way, we need people to advertise for the site. We can either make this a contest or something where everyone gets compensated. All that’s really needed is for someone to make a quick write up for it and the rest of you can get to plastering our mark on every rp site, until literally every site knows of us and who I am, so my plans of world domination can be---- *cough* uh sorry about that. But you guys get the idea. Again more information on this will be found in its respective thread, so be on the look out for that.
