Basics
Full Name: Yukari Hamada
Nickname: Yuki, Yuka and variants thereof.
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Grade/Career: Second year high school student, freelance photographer and videographer. Intern camera-lady for the local news station.
Ethnicity: Japanese (American mother, Japanese father)
Family: Parents (Junpei and Carol Arisato), deceased
Adoptive parents (Jiro and Hanako Hamada), present and not-dead
Adoptive sister (Kimiko Hamada), alive and well
Appearance
Yukari is a pretty young lady with a thin figure and a pair of stunning brown eyes. Though her hair is naturally blonde, it ends up dyed a variety of colors, the most recent being brown as a change of pace from her usual bright colors. She feels like she's on top of the fashion curve, often wearing a pair of black-and-red striped arm warmers to match her black-and-white stripe leggings and her plaid skirts. She tends to wear semi-formal, male collared shirts with the arms either cut off or tailored without them to show off her thin shoulders, one of which always holds the strap of her blue camcorder case. A pair of black boots with a matching tie set it off nicely, or so she wants to believe, and she often tries to match her hat with her bag. Her necktie often sports a variety of pins from whatever film festival she last attended, along with some paperclips just in case. She's also got a thing for chokers and little ear rings for whatever favorite movies she has at the time.
Personality
Likes: A/V equipment, A/V club, making videos, taking pictures and videos, running, hair dye, movies, English, pop music, fashionable clothes, browsing stores
Dislikes: Frayed cords, cracked lenses, lewd jokes, History class, being useless, mean people
Hobbies: A/V club, tinkering with her equipment, making and editing videos and photographs, Track team
Goals: To become a professional camerawoman/photographer, to not fall asleep in History class, and to make her parents (Both adopted and otherwise) proud. Also to maybe get a boyfriend, but that's kind of on the backburner.
Yukari is a spirited, cheerful young woman with an almost obsession over audio/video anything. Whether it's the most ancient of cinematography or the latest tech breakthrough in camcorders, she's on top of it and geeking over it to somebody. One of her favorite past times is simply picking someone to follow around for the day, getting permission to take some pictures and honing her technique. She's got a lot of heart, and she's not one to back down from a challenge; anyone who thinks they can beat her at a track sprint is in for a contest, and she's always willing to show anyone what she's got... even if she's not particularly skilled at the challenged area. Her sense of humor is kind of lame, with a love for particularly bad puns.
Yukari also loves movies, particularly cheesy romances and super heroes. Western stuff also really gets her pumped, from the weird foods (Whose idea was pizza anyways?) to the weird things they do (How rude, just calling them by first names so soon!)... plus the fact that all the really great movies and TV shows are made by English speaking countries, as far as she's concerned. In the realm of personal interaction, Yukari is friendly and very open, and she's pretty good at tact and helping people with their problems. She tends to be a bit naive, however, and doesn't really think about things on anything more than a friendly level, making getting close to her a bit of a pain. She's very loyal and supportive as well, always willing to pop by someone's apartment to lend them a helping hand. Carefree is the name of the game, and except for upcoming History exams there's not much that gets her down for more than a few minutes.
History
Yukari Hamada was born in Iwatodai City, to loving parents who unfortunately ended up not having too much time to spend with their new daughter. She was eight when they passed in a car accident, but up until then she lived a normal, happy life. Her mother was an American woman who came to Japan to work with a film crew for a Hollywood movie that ended up flopping, and she brought her daughter a love of Western society and movies, as well as her love of cinematography and camera work. Her father supplied her with the things she needed to start her hobby, even if they were relatively cheap old cameras and camcorders. When they died, she briefly entered the foster system until a family friend, the Hamadas, adopted her. As fortune would have it, they had a daughter a bit older than her to help ease the transition. With their help, she was saved from falling in to depression and simply stopping enjoying life. The change in family saw her move to Kanehira, where the Hamadas lived and worked.
The family knit together so well that after a few years, it was like she'd never lost the first one at all. As she grew up, she kept her love for film and even picked up photography for when a camcorder was just too much to lug around. She even became quite popular in school as her looks came out from the cute little girl, and her big sister gave her plenty of fashion tips and hair dyes! She even joined the school's A/V club, which won her quite a bit of attention from the nerdier crowd for being one of the only girls with that kind of interest. With some encouragement from a friend, Yukari joined the track team, something she's also good at (and which certainly helps keep her fit and attractive!) and something she keeps up with today.
When she moved to Kanehira from Iwatodai she met and befriended fellow student Gin, future president of the boxing club. The two became good friends, bonding over the shared loss of family and her weekly visits to the shrine for prayer. Between her connection there, her good looks, her role as the school photographer and her bright personality she's a well known face around the school and the teen crowd, and she's pretty popular as well. If you're new to town, she's probably among the first students to greet you!
The mysterious disappearances around town have her curious about just what kind of cool mysteries are hiding in her city, and with her trusty camcorder at her side she's going to get the scoop and impress her bosses with some fantastic videography! That'll be sure to land her a nice award for her resume!

She's not the best track runner, but she's pretty quick on her feet. Fluent in English for when she inevitably ends up working for an American film company (like that'll ever happen!)
