Oh goodness, she had heard rumors of this particular cafe trying to replace the current staff with attractive young women dressed as maids and yet, being dressed as a maid was not something she would do especially since she was an aspiring proper young lady. Being a proper young lady as an example from the expectations of the Nohrian royalty meant that she couldn't dress provocatively or act in such a manner which their people would find it disgusting. Dressing in a provocative manner would certainly not sit well with her mother and father which they would apparently try to make their children set an example of someone who would be leading an entire country one day and not goof around in other countries.
As she entered the quaint little cafe, it was probably quite obvious that the business was failing for a while, but she probably would have suggested that they should get better staff members. The young lady would sit at a table where a waitress asked her if she wanted something to drink. "I'd like some green tea please, miss." The waitress would nod before she would go to prepare her customer's drink which left the blonde young lady to wait for a while. If the cafe had some help wanted ads, she would certainly apply in a heartbeat considering that she had a tendency to go out of her way to help people. |

Tetsuya stood hesitantly outside the small business. He wasn't sure what to expect once he went in. In the seven years he had lived in Kanehira he had not once seen more than maybe a few customers inside. How the business stayed afloat? No one knows. The cafe was the center of many rumors. One of which claims the owner as a witch, who curses anyone who bad mouths her shop or the any of its comodities as bad. Forcing them to donate to the cafe until the day they died.
Of course Tetsuya didn't believe in the silly urban legend, but he still wanted to find out where all of it started. Besides, the place had always seem mysterious to him, even before he heard the rumors. He always wanted to try out the green tea. And what better time than after a long day of shopping. He gripped the door handle. He took in a deep breath then opened the door.
The sound of bells echoed through his mind.
Looks just like a regular restaurant.
He couldn't help but feel disappointed, he secretly wished there was something really out of the ordinary happening. The owner may still be a witch, he hoped. At least his hypothesis about there being a lack of patrons was spot on. He quickly ordered his tea hoping not to stutter or say something out of the ordinary. Success! Maybe one day he'll get over this crippling shyness. Until then he would just have to do his best to get over it little by little. He examined the room to find a place to sit. His eyes focused on the only other customer there: a girl about his age with long blond hair. Right away he could tell she was foreign, not many people in Japan had natural blond hair, or dressed in such a regal way. She must come from a prestigious family or something, and is just visiting.
Still it's kind of weird to find someone in high standing at such a place. He laughed at his own thoughts. He was technically royalty, and he was here. His eyes widened, he had been staring at the girl the entire time he was thinking. He quickly looked in the opposite direction trying to hide his face. Oh gods she probably thinks I'm some sort of creep.

Apparently she didn't really notice that someone was staring at her like some sort of creepy weirdo, but she would wait for the green tea to arrive. After a few minutes of waiting, the waitress would arrive with a cup of green tea in tow and she would give the waitress a tip for the service. Taking a small sip of the green tea, the taste of it was enough to have her wanting more since this was probably her first time drinking foreign tea from a Japanese cafe. And then she noticed that someone was actually looking at her like he probably never seen someone foreign coming to their country and trying out foreign tea for their own enjoyment which she didn't mind the attention at all."Um... I-I feel uncomfortable if you stare at me too much..." She could just feel her timidness just creeping up the moment that he was just staring at her. Oh god, this was just the most awkward way to have a conversation with someone, but the guy probably never intended to be creepy or anything...

Tetsuya mental face palmed. Gods I have the worst kind of luck. Think I'd be fine with no luck.
He refrained himself from acknowledging the female. He had to think of an excuse or a way to explain why he had seemed like he was staring at her. Who was he kidding from any point of view he was blatantly staring at her. He cursed himself. He tried to muster the courage to at least turn at her, but he couldn't even do that. He could feel the eyes of everyone piercing him, Well in reality there was no one there but him the girl and the cashier who couldn't care less about their situation.
Still his palms were sweaty, his knees grew weak. He could feel himself growing sick, almost wanting to throw up. He just wanted to get a nice cup of tea and then go home. He was about to give up and just leave, then his conscious stopped him.
Dude are you seriously just going to give up?
Yeah. I look like a creep, and we both know I can't defend myself without looking like a fool or a bigger creep.

His conscious was right. he couldn't just stand there and allow his Ainu pride to be tarnished. He took in a deep breath then turned towards his blond assailant. He was confident he could do this. They locked eyes. He immediately started to blush. He tightened his fist and swallowed.
"S-sorry about t-that. I-i was just uh lost in thought. I didn't m-mean to l-look at you."
Oh gods she may take that as offense.
"N-not to s-say you're un-unattractive or anything."
Seem like a creep again.
"N-not that I'm hitting on you or anything"
Offensive.
"Again not that you're ugly or anything, Just uh your clothes are kind of not normal."
Dude.
"N-not to say that you're not normal. You're probably as normal as normal can get. Not tosaythatyou'renotunique."
Tetsuya started to sweat. The more he spoke the deeper the hole he dug for himself.
Maybe you should have just left.

It was apparent that the more this guy talked, the bigger the hole he was just digging for himself and that would not be good for him. However, she didn't actually take offense to anything that he would have said to her. "it's okay. I am not offended by your statements at all." The poor guy probably felt worse by talking with her, but she probably didn't mind his company anyway. It would seem that he was digging a bigger grave than usual by making himself look like a bigger fool by the looks of it, but it was all just nonsense. The poor young man could do better than talking to a young lady with some sort of respect, but she'll let it slide for now. Besides, the guy probably didn't have anyone to talk to and she could understand where that predicament would come from at least."Um... It is true that my clothes are different, so most people would stare at me like they never seen someone dress so strangely in their country." Oh god, she must have made it worse for him if that statement was anything to go by, but this guy was just feeling a bit timid which she assumed that was the case. |

Tetsuya calmed down a little. Still tense, nervous, and panicking he was glad that she didn't take any real offense from his panicked ramblings. He could finally calm down...until she brought up the clothes thing. Why can't I just shut up.
"I-I didn't really mean anything by th-that statement. I was just um talking out the side of my neck," he said flashing a nervous grin.
He really did feel bad. He made a fool of himself (on accident), and insulted a stranger (on accident). Man was today his day for first impressions. He had to find away to remedy the situation. But, he didn't want to risk any more of his blabbering.
Just say sorry.

He raised a really good point. Fine. I'll do it. He let out a sigh, and mustered what courage he had left.
"Um, I'd like t-to apologize for all of that. I'm just kind of a big fool. I really didn't mean any of that, well except the part about you being attractive, unless that offends your or makes you uncomforta--- I'm doing it again." He scratched the back of his neck. Let me try that again. I'm sorry."
Better, but I'd still only give you a 6/10.

Oh lord, the poor guy was just making a bigger fool of himself, but he just had to stumble over his words for quite a while which would probably be a new world record. Right now, he was just apologizing profusely which he was not feeling very good with talking to strangers at the very least. "Do not apologize. I found no offense with your statement." Although he didn't really lie about her being attractive which it was a compliment that she wasn't used to. Normally anyone didn't really compliment someone's own appearance, but perhaps this would be an exception. Luckily nobody would ever be listening in to someone that was making a fool of himself in front of a stranger and it would be terrible if someone made fun of that too."Although I never been complimented on my appearance before... Thank you very much~" Great, this would probably have some profound effect on the poor guy's nervousness. It wasn't that bad compared to trying to communicate with the Japanese citizens which it was difficult without learning some basic Japanese first. |

Tetsuya sighed. He somehow stabilized the situation, well for the time being. He was glad that she wasn't angry, and that he was done being an idiot. Now he just needed to get his tea and get as far away from the cafe as possible. Everything was fine. Everything was perfectly---
What did she just say?
He froze at the sound of those words. He said that didn't he. He called a random girl attractive. His face turned a deep shade of red.
Oh yeah I did say that didn't I? Why did I have to say that. This just made things more awkward for me.
Trying come up with a reply all he could do was say a sheepish, "You're welcome." He could feel his stomach in his throat. He might actually throw up. This was more social interaction than what he was used to. Just so happened to be his most uncomfortable. He wasn't one for small talk. He was more of a relax in the garden alone type of guy. He didn't interact because, well, because of what just happened a few minutes ago. He was afraid of doing something dumb, even more so when he doesn't know the person. He prayed to the gods that they would bring his order quick so he could leave.

And the poor guy's apparent nervousness just got a lot worse and it felt like this moment was just a bit terrifying for unintentionally offending some stranger. She was worried that she might have said something worse to make him feel very nervous around a foreign stranger no less, but she didn't have much of a mean bone in her body either. "Are you feeling alright? You do not look too good..." Being concerned for his nervousness was one thing, but she didn't want the poor young man to feel like he needed to have some fresh air or something. If anything, she probably shouldn't have said such things to get him in this state to begin with, but well...the damage was done anyway. This fiasco was turning out to be something that she would probably regret doing once it was over, but there was something different about this guy. "Oh I might as well learn your name. What is your name?" A simple question would probably yield some social interaction as her parents had said that she probably had to make friends that were the same socal status as her. |

Tetsuya flashed a sheepish smile towards the female. "Im, uh fine," he managed to let out. In actuality he was the furthest thing from fine. He felt that he was actually going to die. Well maybe not literally die, but he really didn't feel right. Maybe the situation was more awkward than he thought. He just wanted to leave. And never come back. Ever. For fear that another interaction like this may happen.
Hey! HEY! I think she asked you a question.
He snapped out of his thoughts and looked at the girl who, indeed was asking him a question. He looked at her perplexedly. "My...name? Oh uh it's uh Tetsuya. Tetsuya Horokeu." He gave another nervous smile trying his hardest to hide his uncomfortable disposition. When was that tea going to arrive.

And it probably would have gotten worse if she hadn’t tried to make him feel very nervous which it was entirely her own fault. Even so, he did at least tell her his name which was a very nice name for someone who had a timid demeanor. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Tetsuya. My name is Isolde Spencer.” Despite the guy just being afraid to incur her wrath upon him, she didn’t really want to frighten the poor guy, but she did wanted to make new friends as long as they would get along with her despite being a foreigner to Japan. Japan always had that mindset whenever there was foreigners in their country which had to be problematic when she knew little Japanese from the shows she watched recently. This guy was probably different, but she wouldn't know unless they got along better.
“So where do you live?” When she obviously didn’t know Tetsuya well, it was a rather simple question that could send him out of this café in pure fright, but he would probably stay and talk for a while if he wasn’t a complete nervous wreck when around other people.

Tetsuya looked at Isolde perplexedly. So she really was a foreigner. So that's why she wants to talk to me, she wants a friend. He sighed. It must be hard. No he knew it was hard, since he was technically a foreigner himself. He knows how it feels. To be alone, to feel like you don't belong. It's not as big of a deal as it used to be, since he prefers to be alone. But, for her it must be hell. The least he could do is try to be sociable, even if it literally killed him to do so.
"I um live not to far from here. It's really just a 10 minute walk."
That's it, baby steps.
"Um, so where are you from? I'd guess America, but I um don't have much experience with foreigners. Oh and w-why did you come to Kanehira?" He was actually doing it. He made small talk. This was easier than he thought. He smiled. Maybe this wasn't that--he started to feel light headed. Had he been not breathing that entire time. He still had a ways to go.

Apparently Tetsuya lived not too far from here which it would be a ten minute walk, so he would ask the same question to her. “No, I am not from America. I came from the kingdom of Nohr and as for the reason I came to this city, my family wanted to know about the culture of Japan.” Well, at least the poor guy was opening up a little bit and that he probably needed to overcome that crippling shyness as well. He looked like he was foreign compared to the Japanese people here, so perhaps they may find common ground soon after all. He certainly had some kind of foreign air to him and that she probably knew he wanted someone to talk to as well. Many times, she would find herself alone since she never had friends equal to her own social status, but that was all in the past now.
“My country is relatively obscure, but our culture has many wonderful ancient legends.” Yes, not many people have heard of this particular country before, but it goes to show that the map may have missed something like that small speck of land. A micronation like that would probably leave people scratching their heads or something which they always get that kind of reaction.

Nohr? sounded like a place of fiction. Like a country in a video game with dragons and magic. He shook his head, he was the last person to make fun of someones culture. However, he had never heard of the country, ever. It would have to be really small. Then again, he wasn't really gifted at geography. So he didn't think much about it. Maybe he could learn more about it if he asked. "I've never heard of Nohr before. Sounds kind of medieval." He cringed at what he just said, forgetting that he might have insulted her, but he was probably fine. "Well Japan's culture isn't really a prominent thing here. I don't even think we have a culture in Kanehira. But, it's still cool that you get to come here."
He scratched his head. "It must be pretty tough being so far from home though right?" He wasn't sure who he was saying that for; him or her. what's said is said though.

He thought that her country sounded kind of medieval judging from the name which she did agree that its name was from some sort of medieval time. “I can agree that it does sound like it is from medieval times. The country is very European after all.” She didn’t actually think that Tetsuya was offending her culture as he just made a non-offending comment about the country being very medieval compared to other countries. He would go on to say that Kanehira City didn’t have a prominent culture, but it was nice of her to appreciate Japan’s culture for her own benefit anyway. Being far away from her home would always have her wish she could go back to her country, but perhaps Japan would not be so bad after all.
“Yes, it is very difficult to be far from home. Even if Japan’s culture is different than my own homeland’s culture, I’d still appreciate for what it is worth.” She would give Tetsuya a small smile though deep inside, she still missed her homeland and the people that lived there. She might as well developed homesickness when she first moved to Kanehira City which was something she would always feel.
