Appearance
Nagasada has a surprisingly simple appearance for a living weapon. At a glance she looks no different from a normal human, a somewhat short woman with pink hair and brown eyes. Her manner of dress is fairly plain as well. She wears a short kimono-like garment that leaves most of her legs free for easy movement. This is complimented by fingerless elbow gloves and toeless stockings, both black and heavily reinforced. When in combat or out and about in the Inverse she also wears reinforced boots with thruster mechanisms built into the heels. Rather than the heavy weaponry of many ASSWs, Nagasada fights with a nodachi, using mechanical parts in the hilt and blade to give an extra kick to each slash and thrust. On less functional and more sentimental notes, she keeps her hair tied up in a black bow and wears a long black scarf in combat. Both were gifts from comrades.

Nagasada as a person is polite and respectful, typically soft-spoken and reserved. She is more comfortable in small groups than in crowds, especially moreso now that crowds are virtually nonexistent unless they're hostiles. She tends to be a more serious person, and has trouble relaxing or cutting loose. If she's not doing something for her commander or the other surviving ASSWs, she starts to get anxious and feel like she should be working. She is extremely loyal to and has a strong relationship with her commander, which extends to the point where she would remain by Dairokuten Maō's side even in the face of complete destruction.
In battle, she is a patient but fierce fighter who plays the role of a guardian - defending her charge and destroying their enemies. She doesn't have much optimisim that the war against the shadows can eventually be won, but as long as there are other surviving ASSWs and her own body still has the strength, she will continue fighting for their survival.
History
Nagasada was created in 1991 as one of the earlier GW-line ASSWs. She was given military and combat knowledge like many others, but hers was specifically geared towards the protection of others. The defense of a keep was prioritized over assaulting another, and loyalty was favored over leadership. There was already an anti-shadow unit designed to lead them, and Nagasada was to be assigned to her. She was not to be one of many mass-produced GW soldiers, though, but a personal bodyguard. Nagasada fell easily into that role, only ever leaving her commander's side to destroy anything that threatened her. Through the combined efforts of Dairokuten Maō's leadership, the human and ASSW soldiers assigned to her, and Nagasada's devotion to keeping both commander and comrades in arms alive, the tide started to turn. Where once there had been a desperate struggle for humanity to keep as much ground as they could against the horde of monsters from the subconscious, they now finally started to regain ground, save cities, and retake what was lost.
But it would ultimately prove too little. While the joint human and ASSW division met success, the front continued to crumble in other areas, and the shadows grew stronger still. Soon, Nagasada was forced into the fray more and more as even they started to face setback after setback. Every time, if her commander was threatened, Nagasada would destroy her enemies as they came. But they soon proved too numerous and eventually, many of them too strong for even ASSWs. And eventually, even her commander's great contingency plan, destroying their old base of operations once it was overrun by shadows to buy them time, only set the enemy back for a moment.
And so began the downfall of humanity. Eventually after over 20 years of fighting, Nagasada too was forced to the front line, because the front line had been pushed so far back. She took down shadow after shadow, pushing her artificial body to its very limits and fighting until the inner workings of her sword were damaged to the point of unusability, but it seemed that for every shadow she cut down, many more took its place. She could feel the despair and hopelessness growing among her human comrades, and even some of the other ASSWs. And eventually, she was forced to prioritize her primary mission over the fight. Once she had determined that saving humanity was truly hopeless, Nagasada retreated, determined to instead protect the one person who needed to stay alive above all others: Dairokuten Maō.
In the aftermath of the fall, only a handful of active ASSWs remained, and humanity was as far as they knew completely extinct. But her commander saw hope for a long-term victory and the survival of the remaining ASSWs, and so Nagasada too resolved to continue to fight.
