A bit of target practice[OPEN]

[Nakano Hoshie]

Nakano chuckled as she landed in Inverse, the rift had brought her to the remains of her school on the other side. "Impressive, I didn't think this place could be worse." She said, walking up and opening the door, only to have it fall off the hinge on one side. "Hopefully that wasn't important." She said, unslinging her rifle from her shoulder as she started to slowly make her way down the hall, checking for shadows as she went. She eventually found a way to climb up onto the roof, carefully making her way to the edge and getting comfortable. She looked over the barren and ruined street and watched as some shadows milled about. "Alright you monsters, time to clean this place up a bit." She held up her rifle and aimed down the sight, firing off a shot at one of the creatures, putting a chip in it's mask and knocking it back, the sound of the shout echoing from the roof. She knew that she'd have to get out soon enough because the shadows would be here soon, but she'd done this before. She knew roughly how long it would take for them to start getting close. She fired off another shot at the staggered shadow, putting a hole in its mask and pushing it back even more, another crack rings out. After the third direct shot, the shadow falls limp, however, as she looks out at the streets she can see a few shadows starting to stir and move around. She chuckled and started to aim for the next one, she had time. She was getting better.

"You're not going to get anywhere like that."

A voice spoke from behind Hoshie. And if she turned around to look, she would observe an older woman than herself. Someone of a distinctly foreign appearance though her japanese had been quite fluent. With jet black hair and a set of piercing amber eyes that looked at the younger girl, the red coat that she wore combined with a black scarf certainly seemed to be put together to deal with the cold of this world. "Those creatures cannot be killed with simple weaponry. Or rather, it will take you about ten rounds for even the weakest of them." The woman began to walk closer to Hoshie. "Why, what would you do right now if I was one of those Human versions? You'd have already been dead, child."

[Nakano Hoshie]

Nakano was surprised to hear another voice. "Who are you" She said, jumping up and turning, keeping her rifle trained on the woman. "What...What are you doing here?" She asked, suddenly very afraid, this woman had a presence about her that made the sniper suddenly very weak in her knees, but she held her ground. She knew that if she showed fear here, she'd wind up dead or something. "I get the job done well enough. And what do you mean by the human versions? I have no idea what you're talking about. All I've seen here are monsters."

The woman simply crossed her arms with no change in expression or demeanor as the rifle was pointed her way. "Exactly." She spoke up once more after Hoshie had finished speaking. "You have no idea what you have walked into, girl. You would be best to extricate yourself from the vicinity and never return." A simple warning really. "You have seen nothing but the simplest and weakest of these creatures. These Shadows. Leave and live your life forgetting what you saw. Or stay and turn into food for them. I for one don't really care what you do." The unfeeling words were spoken with cold disdain. "But I was feeling nice and so I've given you a warning. What you do next is up to you, but don't count on anyone coming to your protection when these things finally corner you."

[Nakano Hoshie]

Nakano kept standing her ground. "No." She said sternly, still not lowering her rifle. "I'm not leaving, I have to do this!" She said, almost yelling. "Those...Things! The shadows, you called them, they took the only family I had left from me. Once I found up that I could hunt these things, kill these things, I had to do it!" She said, screaming now. The shadows began to grow restless around them, feeling Nakano's rage. She'd been so good at keeping it in check so far that this was new for her. "You don't understand. I've been doing this for months now I know how to survive. I can do this." The shadows were getting close now, she could hear the rumbling in the ruined city around them. "Why would you even care to warn me?"

[Ember Cole]

"I don't."

No, the woman did not care even a bit. "You are simply in this area and stirring things up. Makes it harder for me to move around, you see." One of her gloved hands rose and shook a finger as if to punctuate her last sentence. "Even at this moment, you can be sure that they're on their way. Shadows are deceptively fast. At least, for those not of the weaklings that you've been taking potshots at. And rest assured, those aren't what's coming right now." As if on cue, the rattle of the door to the stairway back down signaled a new arrival.

The black haired woman sighed with an exasperated expression. A few words passed through her lips, but they were of a language that Hoshie would not understand. "Well here we go, girl. You'd better hope you have the potential."

[Nakano Hoshie]

"Why are you doing this? What did you just say?" Nakano said, fearing a tear trickle down her face as her hands, and whole body, were visibly shaking.
"Scared are we? Is grandpa's little hunter finally letting it all get the best of her?" A voice said as another figure appeared on the roof between Ember and Nakano. It looked identical to Nakano, except for the golden eyes and the lack of a beanie. The shadow's hair fell evenly around her head, kept out of the glowing yellow eyes behind here ears.
"Who...Who are you?" Nakano said, starting to lower her rifle.
"It's simple. I'm you." The shadow said, holding out her hands and smirking.
"No...Not possible...You can't be me. I'm me. You're not me!" She shouted, almost dropping her rifle and feeling a bit of the roof grumble behind her. The shadow began to laugh as yellow energy, similar to the color of its eyes, began to glow around it and the shadow began to grow. It took on a monstrous form, comparable to a centaur, only it's lower half was a large wild beast, definitely not a horse, and it's upper half had several arms all holding some sort of ranged weapon.
"I am a Shadow! The true self!" The beast cried out as it stomped down its front paws, standing at least 10 feet high.
"This...This isn't possible...You know about these things more than me. Help me please!" Nakano pleaded to the other woman.

All Hoshie would hear was a vague laugh before the woman in red had seemed to vanished.

As the immense Shadow loomed over it's prey, it would seem that the girl was stuck all on her own against the terrifying creature. "YOU CALLED FOR HELP?" A third voice, another surprise entrant onto the scene. Followed by the thunderous rapport of multiple guns going off all at once. The Shadow would screech in pain as the impacts came from it's side, a diagonal angle that seemed to come from a smaller building's roof nearby. And sure enough, the human girl would be able to see someone there. Dressed all in black with a long cape of red, phantasmal rifles floating in the air before falling away as the unknown helper began to run towards the edge of her building before leaping up. She practically soared in terms of height, clearing the vast distance between the buildings' roofs in a single bound.

Beginning to move quickly once more, the newest arrival moved in front of Hoshie, placing herself between the Human and her Shadow.

"Stay behind me, Human. I must subdue the Shadow before your part in this comes to the fore."

[Nakano Hoshie]

"Wait no..." Nakano said, her vision starting to fade as if this things existence was draining her. This was it, she was going to die to some monster that emerged from a twisted and demented version of herself, then there was the dynamic entry. "What? Who are you?" Nakano said, forcing herself to stay standing at this point. The attack from the stranger caused some sort of reaction to the shadow, but for some reason Nakano felt the attack wasn't doing much damage to the creature, maybe even none at all. "It's not worth it! Just get out of here!" Nakano said, starting to back slowly, feeling more of the roof crumple. "I don't think you can handle this!" She yelled out. The Shadow let out a roar and then aimed all of it's various weapons, firing off a barrage of arrows.

"I've handled worse!" The Shadow proving to be resistant to her attack was an annoyance, but one that simply called for a change in tactics. Turning about swiftly, a strong arm wrapped around Hoshie and pulled her hard as the helper began to dive out of the way of the attack, the shots raining down upon where the two of them once stood. "Listen to me. No matter what it says, you must accept it." She began to speak to the human once more before quickly moving back to her feet, drawing an ornate sabre from it's sheath. "Your gun will not be much help. Just take cover and stay put." The woman raised a hand to the sky and red light bathed her form for but a moment, power surging and settling inside of her before she began to rush towards the Shadow with a swipe of her sabre.

[Nakano Hoshie]

Nakano couldn't help but blush as she was literally swept off her feet by this stranger. "There's no way you can face this on your own. This thing is so big and powerful, I don't want it to hurt anyone. Just run away, it can't catch us both!" Hakano pleaded, even though they fell on death ears. The stranger's slash seemed to have more power to it than normal and it clearly hurt the shadow, more than the previous attack, even knocking it back and causing it to howl. This time the shadow pointed all of it's weapons at Dairokuten and let out a roar as it fired dozens of arrows at the person fighting it.

"I've fought leviathans before. This is just a small fish!"

A bold claim from the stranger, especially as a rain of ammunition filled the air between herself and the Shadow. Bringing up her arms across her face, the attack collided with her body and began to rip through clothing and flesh. Or so it seemed. After the attack cleared, Hoshie could see a glint of steel as cloth and synthetic flesh had been ripped apart. Whoever was fighting the Shadow, she wasn't Human. But the flesh and cloth began to knit itself back together, like an automatic repair. Her arms lowered, but a red light surged as her free hand raised to the sky. Once more she empowered herself.

"Listen to me, girl! If you want to survive, then heed my words! Accept the reality before you!"

The non-Human warrior shouted to Hoshie before rushing forward with another swipe of her sabre, packing even more of a punch than before.

[Nakano Hoshie]

The shadow let out another cry as the stranger slashed at it. It then focused all of it's weapons on the woman fighting it again. Nakano thought she saw a strange flash on the other woman's arm and blinked for a second. Then it set in, Nakano had to do something. "Stop!" She yelled, jumping between the shadow and the fighter right as an arrow was fired,striking Nakano in the arm. She gasped and almost fell but stood her ground. "She's right. As much as I refuse to believe it, you're me." She took a pained step towards the creature. "You are a real part of me." There was a flash of light and the giant creature was gone, replaced by a blond woman wielding a bow. "I am though and thou art I...From the sea of your soul I lend you my bow...May your aim be true." The bow wielding woman then turned into a card and floated in front of Nakano who grabbed it. "What...was...that..." She said before the mix of exhaustion and the wound in her arm took her over and she started to collapse.

The Human finally seemed to understand the weight of the mystery arrival's words. Rushing forward, she had called a halt to the fight and admitted the burdensome truth that was before her. As the Shadow began to dissolve into a bright flash of light, the black-haired woman sheathed her sword, the red glow that surrounded her beginning to fade ever so slowly. At last the Human reached for a card before her eyes and almost fell over entirely before a strong arm helped her to maintain her balance. "Easy. You need to get back to your side first. I'll take you there. Where did you come from?" It would be too much of an information overload when combined with the girl's current state. Too bad healing wasn't her forte. But then, it wasn't a wise idea in general to have a Human around with the number of Shadows in the area.

[Nakano Hoshie]

Nakano was still very out of it. She could barely keep her eyes open but she felt her savior holding onto her. It was strange, the arms holding onto her felt cold, colder than they should. Almost as if there wasn't life in them, Nakano just put it up to her current condition, feeling the wound in her arm finally stop bleeding. "Thank you..." She muttered, she felt delusional right now, between the giant monster, the sudden savior, and her current wound, she didn't know if she would see anything else crazy. "That way..." She lifted her good arm and pointed towards the rift that she came in through, it was only a shot hike away thankfully. "It's...that way..."
